Notes

  1. The purpose of this page is to inform the public and local emergency managers of the best available predictions of oncoming tropical storm activity in time of need. During a time of threat to Collier County from a tropical siturbance, updates are posted upon receipt, usually about 5 and 11 am and pm daily.
  2. The HurrTrak® program is used to extrapolate the data mathematically from the current National Hurricane Center Advisory, which is linked in the home page.
  3. The spiral rain-bands associated with the tropical system contain the threats from winds and rain. When you watch the spiral rain-bands on weather radar seen on TV/Internet approaching you, remain alert.
  4. For tropical cyclones, tornado activity is generally found in the spiral bands associated with the right, front leading quarter of the system. For example, in a northward-heading system, tornado activity is generally expected in the North-East quadrant, etc.
  5. Tidal predictions are taken from SaltwaterTides. Times are local. Heights are in feet. Predictions for Bonita Beach are taken at Little Hickory Island; Naples at north end of Naples Bay; Marco Island at Caxambas Pass.
  6. Disclaimer. Information distributed on these pages represents best available data from US Government and private sources. Any actions taken or not taken based on this information are the sole responsibility of the person or entity taking those actions.
  7. If you have any questions, please direct them to Mr. Richard Zyvolowski at the Collier County Emergency Operations Center.
